XBOX 360 Launch

I don’t understand these people that wait 1,000,000 hours just to be one of the first to own an XBOX 360. I don’t understand why this system was even released. I’m still playing the games on PlayStation 2 and regular Xbox, and these games on XBOX360 don’t look much different. All that hype that G4 created was crap. You’ve got a guy on Craigslist offering $50 for somebody just to stand in line for him. The system sure does look pretty though… but I don’t see what’s so enticing about it. Hardcore people rave about how XBOX Live is the best thing to happen to multi-player gaming… but I don’t want to pay for that. I’m spoiled by free services like battle.net and the PlayStation 2’s online capabilities.

The Nintendo 64 launch would justify the stupidity of waiting in line for that long, however. Mainly because the games and the system were something we’ve never seen before at the time. It really was ‘next-gen’. Super Mario 64 was really in 3D. Sure, it gave me a headache the first couple of times… but this was a system that was pumping out something really different.
The XBOX 360 doesn’t even look ‘great’ unless you have an HDTV set. So for the masses that don’t own a brand new spankin’ TV, oh well. I haven’t checked out the PlayStation 3, so I don’t know if it’s launch is the same situation. They keep showing videos of the game and not the actual gameplay… so it’s hard to judge. I’m actually waiting on more Nintendo Revolution info, because last I heard on Attack of the Show they were implenting a “all past/present Nintendo games” backwards compatiblity with the system.
Revolution will play all of your favorite Nintendo GameCube games, and deliver downloadable access to 20 years of fan-favorite titles originally released for Nintendo 64, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and even the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).
I don’t know if that feature has been scratched or what… it sounded hella promising. But how the hell do you play an old school game like Street Fighter 2 with that remote control joystick? That thing looks like it’s going to kill the system like how cartridges killed the N64.

Gaming is so high-tech now. Whoopie doo.*
