iTunes 1 billionth song downloaded

February 25, 2006 | Category: blog, technology

The billionth song, ”Speed of Sound,” was purchased as part of Coldplay’s “X&Y” album by Alex Ostrovsky from West Bloomfield, Michigan. As the grand prize winner, he will receive a 20-inch iMac, 10 fifth generation iPods, and a $10,000 Music Card good for any item on the iTunes Music Store.

I saw this story on CNN and initially I misinterpreted it as ‘this kid has just downloaded 1 billion songs off of iTunes.’ From there I went on to insult the kid because I think anyone who purchases 1 billion songs via iTunes is an idiot. I didn’t even know that was humanly possible. I blame the educational system for the lack of cohesiveness in my brain.
