X-Men 3 review

May 29, 2006 | Category: blog, movies & DVDs

DO NOT READ THIS if you haven’t seen the movie yet. Spoilers ahead… juggernaught from x menI thought the movie was pretty good because it was the end of the trilogy. In all fairness to the first two movies, they were only the buildup for the finale afterall, the x-men movies were meant to be a trilogy (which I don’t quite understand as they can be a money making franchise if continued as in Batman/Spider-Man).

Nonetheless, I apologize for my previous posts/jokes about Cyclops and Professor X dying - it was only a joke and I only guessed/assumed so - I had no prior knowledge or insider information about that actually happening. In the previews we get a glimpse of maybe Cyclops dying - but you know how previews are always either A. misleading or B. too leading; as in they show the best parts of the movie (or the funniest parts) and that’s it.

Kitty Pryde and Colossus toysI’m wondering why Colossus and Kitty Pryde can use their mutant powers on others (Colossus making Kitty Pryde’s head into that steel stuff to prevent her from being hit and then later on when Kitty Pryde makes Iceman phase through the ground). What did surprise me the most is how quickly they killed off Cyclops and Professor X, all the while throwing Rogue completely out of this movie.

Was the “I’m the Juggernaught bitch!” line an ode to the famous clip or was it merely a coincidence? Whatever the case, his character was best left without dialogue, but I must admit - the scene with him chasing Kitty Pryde through the walls was genius.

The surprise end scene (after the credits) hints that Professor X is still alive but somehow his mind transported to that body that was in a previous scene when he was teaching the students about… dunno. What this scene is meant for - who knows? But I guess they put it in there maybe for the future… a la a Wolverine spin-off or something.

Just thought I would key in on the question about transfering the powers. As for Colossus that wasn’t kitty pryde, I believe it was Rogue. And she aborbed his power, in order to do that. Thats why he shook his head after he let go, it normally knocks people out. And Kitty has, at least according to the comics, always been able to take anything she wants with her as long as she is touching it.

i liked this movie a lot even though i felt it was a bit corny. they can definitely make a decent franchise out of this. only reason why they wouldnt (that i can think of) is that they’d have trouble hanging on to all the actors. that and they killed off cyclops, who was sorely under developed throughout the entire trilogy. they didn’t really give him a story.. he was just a whiny character that got to make out with famke janssen.

but yeah, one glaring thing they missed was when shadowcat was getting that bald kid out of the white room and juggernaut tried to smash into the wall but couldnt. total bullshit, because juggernaut isn’t a mutant. but whatever.

#1 Joe - I’d say watch it. You got the hook up at the theaters anyway right? :)
#2 William - Thx for corrections.
#3 Jason - Damn, someone knows their Jugernaught history (him not being a mutant and all)
#4 K - Yeah the whole school thing was gay… but I was happy they finally showed him as “Iceman” and using his powers to make himself enclosed as ice… but they still didn’t do the Iceman surfboard thing :(

i say this is the start of another trilogy… if you know bishop, asthral plane, and angel being one of the horsemen of apocalypse then you wouldn’t worry about a thing or two. Don’t you get it??? the chemical was temporary just like the kid when he was approached by beast… (the formula was based on him…)

I just saw the movie. BS on Juggernaut hitting the wall, he’s not a mutant. He also forgot to say Hi to his stepbrother, Professor X. Oh, and the part you said about Colossus and Shadow Kat…it was Rogue in the beginning, and she absorbed his power. I’m Juggernaut, Bitch!

Haha…oops. I just read all the comments above mine. I ignored this post until I saw the movie. The movie was cool, but they changed everything. Wolverine’s story is all messed up too, so a spin-off would probably suck for any “purists.” I was a little disappointed that Colossus didn’t have a Russian accent…haha. Despite it being way inaccurate, I still liked the movie. Did anyone else notice that Magneto moved the chess piece at the end?

Magneto’s massive dick hitting the table where the chess piece stood caused it to move. That or a drunk vagrant in the park stumbled over and bumped the table. Maybe the drunk vagrant got him hard causing his erection to hit the table with incredible force. This would happen due to MAgneto’s intense sexual frustration caused by his loss of mutant power and loss of his love Mystique. Also any X-Men buff knows that Juggernaut became the Juggernaut because of the Ruby of Cyttorak. Partially because of Charles also. That’s it. I’m done.

The movie was nice in terms of special effects but you guys are right about the movie changing a lot of stuff, like Juggernaut being affected by Leechs powers, BTW Leech looked nothing like that in the comics and Beast, he’s so skinny and so is Juggernaut. Anyway its the movie just enjoy it and its not the thing for the comic book fanatic, you’ll just get frustrated.
