An old man whose car hurtled through a farmers market, killing 10 people and injuring more than 70, was convicted of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence - the harshest verdict possible.
This is exactly why old people SHOULD NOT be behind the wheel in the 1st place. The old guy panicked and you know how slow their reaction times are…
…besides all that, how does he drive if he can barely walk?
Here’s the good parts from the story:
Weller (old dude) mistakenly stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brake and panicked when the vehicle raced into the open-air market.
“He looked at what he had done, essentially shrugged his shoulders and said, ‘Oops,’” prosecutor Ann Ambrose told the jury.
Weller was 86 when his 1992 Buick Le Sabre traveled about 300 yards, reaching 60 mph or more as it crashed into food stalls. It finally came to a stop after hitting a ditch, with one victim’s body tangled underneath and another’s draped across the hood. The victims ranged in age from 7 months to 78 years.
“I tried to take the control knob and jam it into park. Everything. Anything that I thought would stop the action of the car,” he said.
Prosecutors also called one witness who claimed Weller said: “You saw me coming; why didn’t you get out of my way?”

Threadless Tees
Threadless.com usually has these themed sales every once in awhile and when they do, I always jump on the chance to buy their tees (one they're out, they're out, unless fans demand a reprint)
God man.. This reminds me of the time i was backing out of my parking space (tight spot btw) at a mall and right behind me on the opposite side was an old man. As i was completely out of my parking spot and was turning my wheel about to drive off, the old man started backing out of his space! I couldnt go back in the space because i was already at an angle and the old guy was to far out for me to back up so i honked my horn but he kept backing up! His back right corner dragged all the way across the whole right side of my car as i held the horn honking the whole time. I came out and screamed “WTF MAN?! Did u not see or hear me?!?!” His excuse was, “well.. i was going slow…” I was 17 at the time turning 18 in a few days when it happened. You can imagine how much my car insurance rate went up; like it wasnt high enough to get car insurance for a minor… His insurance only paid for 50% of my damage coz there wasnt enough proof to show he was completely at fault since no one else was around and he coulda said the same reason i did… *sigh* fuckin old ass drivers should really stop driving coz they slow down traffic and cause stupid accidents coz their hearing n vision is impaired along with their quick judgement just like the old man above…
