In summary, the jury is still out on whether or not it is ’safe’ to re-use plastic water bottles for drinking purposes. It is probably a lot easier to just buy a new case of plastic water bottles since, after all, it is merely plastic.
Unless you’re like my girlfriends family who practically replace their normal water with plastic water bottles, then soaping/washing the plastic water bottle for re-use may actually be more of a hassle than a convenience.
And, on the contrary, tap water in the cities (U.S.) are more regulated than bottle water, so it has a higher chance of having less contaminants and other junk in the water than in some bottled water.
